New Technology Arrives-A New Way of Thinking Learning?

It is amazing how quickly technology has advanced in the last six months between clouds and mobile devices!! While I am fond of the Apple line of equipment, it is interesting exploring the Android/Google for Education applications and devices. I look forward to the day when we are evaluated on what we know, not so much the "how we know", but that we can accomplish the task or meet the target.
It doesn't matter "how" information is gathered, what matters is what we can do "with" the information. In education we spend the early years of formal education "learning to read" but by third or fourth grade to the end of our time in this space we must "read to learn". If a person struggles with the decoding/fluency process, have we predetermined the educational process?
What message do we want to pass on to our future leaders, policy makers, and society? It is time for educators to "rethink" the model and explore "outside the box" ideas.
